Repairing Damaged SurfBoards

Started repair of ding in surfboard. Damage to nose of board, taking out foam core and de-lam of top and bottom surfaces.

First stage was to cut out damaged core.
The damaged top surface was re-laminated with single layer of GF and clamped in place until gel set.

The void from the removed core was then re-filled with a very stiff mix of micro balloon and epoxy proud of the bottom surface. This was cut back when hard to below the level of the bottom surface.

A layer of GF was laminated onto this and finished with a thinner mix of micro balloon and epoxy.

Finally both sides where rubbed down and primed with plastic white primer as a base for repair of the graphics. The colours for the graphics were obtained by mixing green metallic  with a thin dust cover of matt black then 3 coats of epoxy were applied for protection and rubbed down to taper into the existing finish.
