Edward, a neighbour's 6 year old grandson has DMD (a gene defect),
which leads to a muscle wasting, immobility and limited life expectancy.
By the age most kiters will excel at their sport, children with DMD
will have a severe muscle wasting disease which has no cure at present.
Current research into the condition is looking promising,
but more money needs to be raised for clinical trials
